Crimsonbell

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 176 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has dozens of long and flexible, wonky stems covered in paper-thin, ridged, dark gray bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are very short and thin with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of miniature, very thin, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either red or amber, with cream patches, rigid and waxy.

It produces copious amounts of small, purple flowers with wide petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a soft scent that smells like coffee. In late summer it forms tinywhite seed pods.
