Copperfruit Tree

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 20 feet (6.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 18 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, straight trunk covered in very thick, cracked, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is dark brown.

The excessive amount of branches are long and thick and are covered with handfuls of miniature, fan-like leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are solid washed-out purple or cream, with copper dots.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of tiny, orange blossoms with circular petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like varnish.

In late autumn it produces small, oblong fruit. The fuzzy brown skin is thin and inedible, and the slightly crunchy silver flesh is savoury and sticky. The bronze seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
