Copperpetal

Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in its stem)

This big flower grows up to 6.9 feet (2.1 meters) tall. Its gray stem is very thin and straight, and the miniature, pale green or dark yellow leaves are light emerald on the underside and are wide with wavy edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

A single giant flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 16 cm (6.3 inches) wide, with petals that are light brown in the center, orange in the middle and copper at the edges. The flower head is made up of 11 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight cup. They are hardy.

It has a weak scent that smells like coconut, and it has a modest amount of pollen. It is pollinated by the wind.

The bark, wood and leaves are edible.
