Mahogany

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 185 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in fine, wrinkled, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale brown-grey.

The excessive amount of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with thick bunches of sticky, large, wide leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are peach and caramel.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, grey aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

The stems are covered in large spikes.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
