Burgundy Bluebell

This colossal shrub grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 133 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of flexible, crooked stems covered in waxy, burgundy bark, and the wood inside is light brown.

The branches are very short and slender with thousands of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of miniature, stiff, pointed, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are grey with silver tips, strong and clammy.

In late summer it produces lots of small, subtle blue flowers with 4 flame-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have no scent.
