Serpentine Vine
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This big fruit tree grows up to 38 feet (11.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 60 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a very thick, slanted trunk covered in delicate, wrinkled, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is burgundy.
The numerous branches are short stubs and are covered with small amounts of huge, very narrow and elongated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either blue or brown, with dark brown splotches.
In early spring, it produces handfuls of tiny, deep orange blossoms with many layers of petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like petrol.
In mid-autumn it produces tiny, pleated fruit. The crispy magenta skin is peel-able and spicy and salty, and the very soft pink flesh is sweet and spicy and powdery. The washed-out yellow seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.
The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
The stems are covered in large spikes.
