Starburst Caudiciform
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This short caudiciform grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall. The needle-like stem is orange-yellow and green, and is covered in many flexible light brown spines. It has a straight, slender, olive trunk atop a slender ball of wrinkled, exposed roots. The branches are flat and gray and are long, thin and wispy.
The smooth-edged, pleated leaves are either blue or brown, with dark brown splotches. They are resilient, and are very difficult to pull away.
It is steady-growing, taking 2 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are deep orange at the sides and sky blue at the center, grow at the top, reappearing after 9 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a star with 54 raised, narrow petals. It has a strong scent that smells like pot-purri.
The caudiciform's skin is very thick, the washed-out red flesh is rough, and the aquamarine sap is thin.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
