Red Spined Cactus

This small cactus grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall. The asymmetrical stem is yellow-green, and is covered in handfuls of flexible deep red spines.

It is fast growing, taking 8 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with each petal a slightly different shade of cyan, grow at the top, reappearing after 5 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 38 petals. It has a strong scent that smells like a man.

The cactus's skin is thin, the bold green flesh is soft, and the turquoise sap is thin and causes upset stomachs if consumed.
