Sunset Grapeweed

Flower type: Biennial (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small flower grows up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. Its dark grey stem is thick and splits into several branching stems at the base, and the giant, orange leaves are very thin with smooth edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

Dozens of medium-sized flowers grow in drooping bunches like grapes. The flowers are 14 cm (5.5 inches) wide, with peach petals that gradient shift to brown on the outer edge. The central disk is aquamarine. The flower head is made up of 35 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight star. They are very delicate.

It has a soft scent that smells like fresh linen, and it has very little pollen. It is a self-pollinator, but is also particularly attractive to bees.
