Zigzag White

This short leaf succulent grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall. The wide stem is black, and is covered in dozens of flexible white spines. The smooth-edged, finger-like leaves are solid white or vibrant orange, with dark brown zig-zags. Very large amounts of them grow from the base in a symmetrical pattern. The leaves are sturdy, but detach easily.

It is very slow growing, taking 16 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with each petal a slightly different shade of white grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight trumpet. It has no scent.

The leaf succulent's skin is nearly impenetrable, the gentle yellow flesh is soft, and the deep green sap is thin and causes diarrhea if consumed.
