Golden Thorny Succulent

This average-sized caudiciform grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall. The stiff, pointed stem is lime green, and is dotted with small brown spines. The wonky, dark grey trunk can grow to as much as 3 feet (91.4 cm) in diameter at the top. Its gold branches are very long and thick and start growing at the top the stem.

The small bunches of tattered-edged, cylindrical leaves are hazel with gold tips. They are light, and detach easily.

It is fast growing, taking 5 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are either washed-out orange or slate, with a yellow center, grow at the top, reappearing after 5 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is largely flat with several tightly layered narrow petals. It has an intensely strong scent that smells like alcohol.

The caudiciform's skin is thick, the peach flesh is soft, and the brown sap is thin.
