Bloodgrass

Grass type: Perennial (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized, gold grass grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The long, narrow stalks grow in extensive patches that are resistant and they spread and grow quickly.

When mature, the end of the stem eventually transforms into a large, blood red tuft.

During the early winter, it produces lots of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions, and after flowering, it is left with copious amounts of tiny grains.

It is suitable for making paper
It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
