Mahogany Conifer

This huge shrub grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for around 44 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several branched, twisting stems covered in silky, brown bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are short and thin with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of small, broad, flat, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either crimson, or caramel with grey zig-zags, rigid and waxy.

It produces clusters of small, slate flowers with slender, pointed petals. They detach easily and have a mildly strong scent that smells like sweat. In late spring it forms medium-sizedsilver, spiky-shelled seeds.
