Bloodbloom

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized tree grows up to 44 meters (144.4 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 97 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, crooked trunk covered in thick, silky, brown and grey bark, and inside, the dense wood is yellow-brown.

The small handful of branches are very long and thick and are covered with handfuls of fuzzy, small, 9 pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are cream on the edges and blood red at the center.

In early spring, it produces dozens of giant, crimson blossoms with 3 kidney-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like ashes.

In late summer it forms small, caramel, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
