Emerald Spike

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This small cactus grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. It splits randomly along the body to form 3 stiff, pointed stems. Each stem is emerald, and is covered in thick sheets of rigid slate spines. The round body is moss green and cream, and is covered in many rigid light grey spines.

It is fast growing, taking 7 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with pastel blue petals and a yellow center grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of 53 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight star. It has a fairly strong scent that smells like misty mornings.

The cactus's skin is very thick, the dark brown flesh is leathery, and the amber sap is thin and causes upset stomachs if consumed.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
It can survive a long time without water.
