Amberheart Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 26 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, wavy trunk covered in fine, wrinkled, brown and grey bark, and inside, the very hard wood is burgundy-brown.

The excessive amount of branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of huge, circular leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are either orange, or drab red with beige edges.

In early spring, it produces thousands of small, amber blossoms with circular petals. They fall easily and have a powerful scent that smells like lavender.

In late summer it produces small, heart-shaped fruit. The fuzzy deep yellow skin is tough and inedible, and the very soft drab red flesh is spicy and syrupy. The blood red seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
