Violet

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 47 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a thick, twisting trunk covered in paper-thin, knobbly, yellow bark, and inside, the dense wood is gray.

The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with thick bunches of large, very narrow and elongated leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are bright orange and violet.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of medium-sized, bronze blossoms with 2 circular shaped petals. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like vomit.

In mid-summer it produces large, fan-like fruit. The fuzzy olive skin is thick and sweet, and the soft amber flesh is savoury and sticky. The crimson seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
