Crimson Succulent

This small leaf succulent grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall. The pleated stem is red, and is covered in sharp spines. The pointed leaves are beige at the bottom and peach with hazel edges at the top. Copious amounts of them grow on very thick, burgundy branches that are very short and thin. The leaves are light, and do not detach easily.

It is steady-growing, taking 2 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with petals that are bronze on the edges and crimson at the center grow at the top, reappearing after 8 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a bowl made up of 11 tightly layered, narrow petals. It has a fairly strong scent that smells like something putrid.

The leaf succulent's skin is thick, the bold orange flesh is rubbery, and the hazel sap is thin.
