Rainbow Maple

This average-sized tree grows up to 14 meters (45.9 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 149 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, curved trunk covered in hard, knobbly, brown and grey bark, and inside, the very dense wood is white with black speckles.

The excessive amount of branches are short, thin and wispy and are covered with small bunches of leathery, huge, broad, flat leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are sky blue on the sides and vivid purple at the center.

In late summer it forms giant, yellow seed pods.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
