Bloodvine

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short caudiciform grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall. The thick stem is brown, and is covered in brittle blood red spines. It has a crooked, stocky, blood red trunk atop a round web of waxy, exposed roots. The branches are round and emerald and trail down across the ground.

The smooth-edged, very narrow and elongated leaves are olive with lilac tips. They are resilient, but take some effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 16 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with turquoise petals on the lower layer and hazel petals decorated with beige dots on the inner layer. The central disk is orange, grow at the top, reappearing once every 6 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 51 curved petals. It has a fairly strong scent that smells like bonfire smoke.

The caudiciform's skin is thick, the turquoise flesh is soft, and the hazel sap is thin.

It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
