Speckled

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 27 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many stocky, straight stems covered in rough, black with white speckled bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.

The branches are long and slender with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of large, wide, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are generally lime, strong and soft.

In early summer it produces lots of giant, sky blue blossoms with triangular petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like lavender.

In early autumn oblong fruits ripen. The sticky light yellow skin is thin and edible when cooked; it is sweet, and the soft gentle purple flesh is slightly salty and oily. The olive seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.
