Turquoise

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 18 feet (5.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 65 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in waxy, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the light wood is pine-coloured.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small bunches of small, perforated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are turquoise on the edges and peach at the center.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of large, lime blossoms with long, narrow petals. They are sturdy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like lavender.

In mid-autumn it produces tiny, oblong fruit. The rubbery bronze skin is stretchy and inedible, and the crunchy gentle purple flesh is salty and oily. The gold seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
