Violetberry

This huge fruit tree grows up to 49 feet (14.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 76 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in very thick, cracked, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the flexible wood is yellow-brown.

The thin clumps of branches are very short and slender and are covered with small amounts of small, wispy leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are black and purple.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of tiny, bronze blossoms with shield-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a mildly strong scent that smells like lavender.

In late autumn it produces tiny, long, curved fruit. The smooth sky blue skin is thick and sweet, and the soft gentle purple flesh is bitter and dry. The slate seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
