Turquoise
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)This small tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 97 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a very thick, angular trunk covered in paper-thin, cracked, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the light wood is pale brown.
The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with copious amounts of covered in fine hairs, tiny, stiff, pointed leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are turquoise and silver.
In late summer it forms giant, gentle yellow, spiky-shelled seeds.
The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
The seeds are toxic to people but not to certain animals.
It can absorb up to 20 times its own weight in water.
