Magenta

This massive fruit tree grows up to 69 feet (21.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 26 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in cracked, silver and white bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is black.

The numerous branches trail down across the ground and are covered with handfuls of tiny, fan-like leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are hazel on the edges and pale yellow at the center.

In early spring, it produces thousands of small, magenta blossoms with cylindrical petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a weak scent that smells like pepper.

In early autumn it produces , needle-like fruit. The rubbery dark grey skin is thin and inedible, and the crunchy olive flesh is sweet and very dry. The white seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
