Lilac Fruit Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 43 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, wavy trunk covered in delicate, smooth, silver and white bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is burgundy.

The numerous branches are very long and slender and are covered with copious amounts of miniature, wispy leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are vibrant purple and lilac.

In early spring, it produces several large, peach blossoms with shield-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like freshly baked bread.

In early summer it produces , asymmetrical fruit. The fuzzy amber skin is delicate and edible when roasted; it is sweet and salty, and the crunchy cyan flesh is sweet and salty and syrupy. The lime seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
