Silverfern

This average-sized tree grows up to 22 meters (72.2 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 676 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, curved trunk covered in rough, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the very light wood is burgundy.

The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with handfuls of smooth, small, 8 pointed leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are solid silver or crimson, with yellow dots.

In late summer it forms tiny, gold, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
