The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with very large amounts of tiny, thin leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are white and slate.
In early spring, it produces thousands of medium-sized, sky blue blossoms with long, narrow petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a powerful scent that smells like freshly washed clothes.
In early winter it produces , circular fruit. The rubbery azure skin is thin and inedible, and the slightly crunchy orange flesh is sour and very dry. The dark brown seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.
The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
All parts of the flower are edible.
