This modest-sized bine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 27 feet (8.2 meters)0.

It takes 4 years for the green stems to mature, by which point they sometimes have a diameter of 2 inches (5 cm) and are tough and woody.

The thin, covered in fine hairs leaves reach up to 8 inches (20 cm) in length. They are olive with hazel tips, and have tattered edges.

During late spring, the bine produces thousands of average turquoise flowers, and during the early summer, after flowering, it produces a handful of small fruits.
