Blue Clinger

This colossal flower grows up to 12.4 feet (3.8 meters) tall. Its silver or blue stem is thick and straight, and the tiny, green leaves are pleated with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

4 to 9 giant flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 62 cm (24.4 inches) wide, with petals that are black in the center, bronze in the middle and aquamarine at the edges. The flower head is largely flat with 40 widely spaced narrow petals. They fall easily.

It has a faint scent that smells like meat, and it has very little pollen. It is a self-pollinator.
