Bronzeberry

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 34 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, crooked trunk covered in cracked, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the hard wood is dark brown.

The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with small bunches of small, perforated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are hazel on the sides and turquoise at the center.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of small, yellow blossoms with shield-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have a weak scent that smells like new carpet.

In late summer it produces tiny, circular fruit. The crispy gold skin is thin and bland, and the crunchy hazel flesh is bitter and very juicy. The bronze seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
