This caramel moss is commonly found blanketing tiny areas In moorlands, In damp forests, and In rainy mountain ranges.
It is short, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps and they are slow to spread and grow, and is very hardy.
When mature, emerald spiral capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early winter to release thousands of spores.

It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
The leaves are excellent for making pulp fibers.
It is suitable for making paper
