Silkwood Vine
Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This modest-sized tree grows up to 34 meters (111.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 246 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a slender, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, silky, brown bark, and inside, the very dense wood is black with white speckles.
The branches are long and thin and are covered with small bunches of clammy, tiny, slender, pointed leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are found in lilac, turquoise and blue varieties.
In late summer it forms small, silver, spiky-shelled seeds.
The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
Ivy often grows along the trunk.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
