Clinging Maple

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This average-sized tree grows up to 36 meters (118.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 493 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, wavy trunk covered in hard, smooth, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the soft wood is burgundy-brown.

The small handful of branches are very short and thin and are covered with large amounts of leathery, huge, needle-like leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are bold green with silver tips.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, brilliant red berries.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
