Copperleaf

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This short leaf succulent grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall. The wide stem is emerald, and is covered in sharp spines. The tattered-edged, pleated leaves are copper on the sides and brown at the center. Handfuls of them grow from the base in alternating layers of 3, then 6, then 9, and so on. The leaves are strong, and detach easily.

It is very slow growing, taking 49 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with solid amber petals and a green central disk grow at the top, reappearing after 9 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 16 curved petals. It has a fairly strong scent that smells like cherry.

The leaf succulent's skin is thin, the azure flesh is sticky, and the brown sap is thin.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
