Indigo Bush

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 146 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous sturdy, straight stems covered in fine, rough, dark gray bark, and the wood inside is gray.

The branches are very long and thin with thousands of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of giant, asymmetrical, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are either indigo or washed-out orange, with violet splotches, robust and rough.

It produces a thick sheet of small, sky blue flowers with 4 teardrop-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a faint scent that smells like mint. In late autumn it forms medium-sizedwashed-out orange, shelled seeds.
