This blue or caramel moss is commonly found growing in giant clumps In rainforests, In damp forests, and On rotten logs.
It is short, growing up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches and they are exceptionally hardy, and is very hardy.
When mature, emerald crescent-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release thousands of spores.

It only grows on the most fertile lands.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
Several parts of the shrub have medicinal properties.
