Black Spine Cactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This small cactus grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall. It splits randomly along the body to form 3 slender, pointed stems. Each stem is black, and is covered in sharp spines.

It is steady-growing, taking 19 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with petals that are crimson on the edges and pink at the center grows at the top, reappearing after 3 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a heart made up of several raised, round-tipped petals. It has the faintest scent that smells like faeces.

The cactus's skin is thick, the caramel flesh is rough, and the ashy green sap is thin.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
