Aquamarineberry

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 21 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, straight trunk covered in thick, wrinkled, brown-green bark, and inside, the very dense wood is pale brown.

The large clumps of branches are long and thick and are covered with thick bunches of tiny, very thin leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are muted purple and aquamarine.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of medium-sized, red blossoms with 4 oval-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a weak scent that smells like lavender.

In late autumn it produces small, oval fruit. The crispy aquamarine skin is stretchy and edible when cooked; it is bitter and salty, and the crunchy cream flesh is salty and sour and syrupy. The brown seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
