Violetbell Fruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 19 feet (5.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 50 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in smooth, dark brown bark, and inside, the soft wood is light brown.
The large clumps of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with small amounts of small, perforated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are copper and violet.
In early spring, it produces several medium-sized, caramel blossoms with slender, pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a weak scent that smells like marzipan.
In early winter it produces tiny, oblong fruit. The smooth slate skin is thick and edible when boiled; it is sour, and the very soft gold flesh is sweet and dry. The yellow seeds are large and are bunched at the top of the fruit.
The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
It commonly grows in large patches.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if cut.
