Golden Spine Caudiciform
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall. The slender, pointed stem is green, and is covered in handfuls of fine, vibrant yellow, hair-like spines. The straight, orange trunk can grow to as much as 4 feet (1.2 meters) in diameter in the middle. Its orange branches trail down towards the ground and start growing halfway up the stem.
The small amounts of toothed-edged, perforated leaves are generally deep green. They are hardy, but are very difficult to pull away.
It is very fast growing, taking 4 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are either white or brilliant red, with a yellow center grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 10 curved petals. It has a faint scent that smells like rotten meat.
The caudiciform's skin is thin, the indigo flesh is smooth, and the olive sap is thin.
It coexists peacefully with other plants.
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
