Crimsonvine

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This small tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 88 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, angular trunk covered in thin, ridged, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the light wood is gray.

The branches are very short and thin and are covered with small amounts of smooth, large, slender, pointed leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are solid pink or lime, with red patches.

In late summer it forms giant, green, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It releases hallucinogenic smoke when burned.
A particular bird species likes to nest in it.
