Clammy Yellow

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 137 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has dozens of thick, wonky stems covered in smooth, dark brown bark, and the wood inside is black.

The branches trail down to the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of large, 7 pointed, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are dull yellow and brown, light and clammy.

In late spring it produces many bunches of large, purple blossoms with teardrop-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have an intensely strong scent that smells like new carpet.

In early autumn tiny long, curved fruits ripen. The leathery aquamarine skin is delicate and bitter and sour, and the very soft dull yellow flesh is sweet and oily. The vibrant red seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.
