Azure Spikevine

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This massive caudiciform grows up to 119 feet (36.3 meters) tall. The wide stem is moss green, and is covered in large amounts of rigid azure spines. It has a crooked, stocky, light brown trunk atop a bulbous web of ridged, exposed roots. The branches are stocky and orange and trail down across the ground.

The ripped-edged, perforated leaves are either grey or turquoise, with green splotches. They are delicate, and easily come away when pulled.

It is very fast growing, taking 4 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with red petals on the lower layer and grey petals decorated with lilac dots on the inner layer. The central disk is hazel, grow at the top, reappearing once every 6 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 10 petals. It has a faint scent that smells like a woman.

The caudiciform's skin is tough, the light grey flesh is smooth, and the bronze sap is thin and can kill if consumed.


Ivy often grows along the trunk.
