It has numerous wide, wavy stems covered in paper-thin, wrinkled, yellow bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.
The branches are tall, rigid and upright that and are covered with copious amounts of small, slender, pointed, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are white on the sides and brown at the center, robust and smooth.
It produces a thick sheet of medium-sized, brown flowers with spiral shaped petals. They are hardy and have the faintest scent that smells like freshly washed clothes. In late spring it forms smallbeige, tough-shelled seeds.
It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
