Amberflower

Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in its leaves)

This big flower grows up to 2.6 feet (79 cm) tall. Its gray stem is thick, and the large, cream and gray-green leaves are thin with wavy edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

Two small flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 44 cm (17.3 inches) wide, with petals that are yellow at the sides and amber at the center. The flower head is made up of 30 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight star. They are sturdy.

It has a weak scent that smells like a man, and it has very little pollen. It is a self-pollinator, but is also particularly attractive to butterflies.

It can survive a long time without water.
