Silver Spined Succulent

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This large caudiciform grows up to 97 feet (29.6 meters) tall. The needle-like stem is yellow, and is covered in large amounts of rigid silver spines. It has a slanted, wide, intense green trunk atop a wide ball of silky, exposed roots. The branches are wide and black or washed-out orange and trail down towards the ground.

The smooth-edged, very thin leaves are peach on the sides and lime at the center. They are fairly frail, but do not detach easily.

It is very slow growing, taking 34 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with cyan petals that gradient shift to washed-out orange on the outer edge. The central disk is dark brown grows at the top, reappearing once every 8 years. The flower head is made up of 10 petals in raised layers. It has an overpowering scent that smells like chocolate.

The caudiciform's skin is very thick, the lime flesh is rubbery, and the sky blue sap is thin.

It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
