This copper moss is commonly found blanketing large areas On rotten logs.
It is colossal, growing up to 1.1 feet (33 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is extremely rigid; it takes a lot of damage when trodden on.
When mature, emerald crescent-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release hundred of spores.

It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
It is suitable for making paper
The sap causes severe rashes
