Caramel

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This huge fruit tree grows up to 64 feet (19.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 20 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, crooked trunk covered in hard, cracked, dark gray bark, and inside, the very hard wood is copper-coloured.

The abundance of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with handfuls of tiny, 9 pointed leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are solid caramel with aquamarine lines.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of small, gold blossoms with pleated petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a faint scent that smells like onion.

In late autumn it produces large, long, curved fruit. The smooth azure skin is tough and overwhelmingly sour, and the crunchy slate flesh is sweet and spicy and juicy. The slate seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
