Limefern

This small tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives "forever", with many known specimens being tens of thousands of years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in wrinkled, dark brown bark, and inside, the soft wood is dark brown.

The branches trail down towards the ground, covered with small amounts of tiny, lime green needles. The needles themselves are resistant.

In late summer it produces large, hazel, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
